New Music for Pentecost
English
Analogion
I’ve just added a number of scores for the feast of Pentecost, including:
- A PDF with many different musical settings of the hymn “O Heavenly King,” by Phillip Phares,
- A complete metered text and score for the 1st canon of the feast, in Grave Mode,
- Musical settings for many of the hymns chanted at the Divine Liturgy, including two different versions of the Megalynarion.
I may add several more resources as time allows. In the meantime, however, it should be noted that, on Pentecost, the Cherubic Hymn and Anaphora are traditionally chanted in Grave Mode. To that end, I have uploaded two new settings of the Cherubic Hymn in that mode, which are a little shorter and hopefully will prove useful to some. For the Anaphora, I have uploaded a setting that I commissioned from Dr. Ioannis Arvanitis; both it and the Cherubic Hymns can be found on the Liturgy page.
Finally, while I hope to be able to add some additional scores for Saturday of Souls, I would like to point out that a number of the hymns used on the Saturday before Pentecost are also used during Great Lent, and what I currently have available for that day can be found on the Lenten Hymnography (Variable) page.
A blessed feast to all!
